Jodhpur is the other major gateway to Jawai. The drive is straightforward and passes through classic Marwar countryside.
Distance and time
Bera is roughly 175 km from Jodhpur, usually around three hours by road. Add time for a breakfast or chai stop, and a little extra if you hit traffic leaving the city or road works on the highway.
Timing your arrival
To catch the evening drive at around 4:00 PM, leave Jodhpur by about 11:00 AM. For a dawn drive the next day, arrive the previous evening rather than driving at night. Many guests stay at Jodhpur’s Mehrangarh area first. See Mehrangarh from Jawai.
Useful stops
- Breakfast of kachori and mirchi vada in Jodhpur before you leave.
- A tea stall in a roadside town for kulhad chai.
- Fuel and cash before the last stretch, since services thin out near Bera.
Alternative: train plus taxi
You can take a train towards Falna or Sumerpur and continue by taxi. See reaching Jawai by train.

Frequently asked questions
Is Jodhpur or Udaipur the better gateway?
Udaipur is a little closer and often easier for flights from Delhi and Mumbai. Jodhpur suits those combining the Blue City and Mehrangarh Fort.
Are there toll roads on the way?
Parts of the route have toll plazas. Carry some cash or a working FASTag.
Can I do Jodhpur and Jawai in one day?
It is possible but very tiring. A night in Bera makes the trip much better.
