Jawai is perfectly placed for a quick escape. It is roughly two hours by road from Udaipur and a little under three from Jodhpur, so a weekend is enough for two safaris and a taste of village life.
Before you go
- Book your room and both safaris in advance, especially in winter.

If you have a little more time
Add a third night for more drives, or a day trip to Ranakpur or Kumbhalgarh. Read the 3-day Jawai itinerary.
Tips for a short trip
- Two safaris give you a fair chance, but no promise, of a sighting.
- Avoid driving back at night. Leave after lunch on day 2.
- Carry cash for small purchases and tips.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Jawai from Udaipur and Jodhpur?
Bera is roughly 114 km from Udaipur, about two hours by road, and a little under three hours from Jodhpur. Roads are good, but allow extra time.
Can I see a leopard in just one night?
Two safaris, an evening and a morning, give a fair chance but no promise, because the animals are wild. More drives improve your odds.
What time should I leave to reach Bera for an evening safari?
Leave early enough to reach by about midday to 2:00 PM. That leaves time to check in, eat lunch and join a drive at around 4:00 PM.
