Jawai Day Trip from Udaipur: Is One Day Enough?

Thinking of doing Jawai as a day trip from Udaipur? Here is what is possible, and why a night helps.

9 September 2026 · 2 min read

Udaipur is about two hours from Bera, so a day trip is possible. Whether it is a good idea is another question.

What a day trip looks like

You leave Udaipur around 2:00 PM, arrive in Bera by 4:00 PM, join the evening drive, and head back after dark. That means a late drive home on rural roads, which we do not recommend. A morning option means leaving Udaipur at about 3:30 AM to reach first light.

The problems with a single day

  • Long hours on the road, often at night.
  • Only one drive, so a lower chance of a good sighting.
  • No time to enjoy the village, the food or the sunset.
  • Safari slots may be limited at short notice.

A better compromise

Stay one night. Arrive in the afternoon, do an evening drive, sleep in Bera and do a dawn drive before returning to Udaipur for lunch. You get two drives, no night driving and a far better experience. See the weekend plan.
