Udaipur is the most common gateway to Jawai, about two hours away. One well-planned day shows you the best of the city.

Morning: palace and temple

Start with the City Palace complex on the banks of Lake Pichola, then walk to Jagdish Temple. Go early to avoid heat and queues.

Afternoon: lakes and gardens

Visit Saheliyon-ki-Bari, a garden built for royal women, and enjoy the lakeside breeze at Fateh Sagar. A lake boat ride is popular if you have time.

Evening: sunset and shopping

Watch the sunset from a lakeside spot and browse the old city markets for handicrafts. See handicrafts to buy.

Where to eat and how to move around

Udaipur’s old city has rooftop cafés with lake views and simple thali places for lunch. Auto-rickshaws are easy for short hops, and a car with a driver is best for a day that includes Saheliyon-ki-Bari or the hilltop viewpoints. Book palace tickets and any boat ride in advance during winter weekends.

If you are driving on to Bera afterwards, leave by early afternoon so you arrive before the evening drive.
